A location shoot
An important part in horror is location. It adds a lot to the scary effect of film. I live opposite a church so I thought it would be a perfect chance to go and take photos of an area that looks perfect for filming a horror film.
To take these photos I just used my phone and the camera app on it. for example in the first image i experimented with lighting and used a torch to cast a column of light through the centre of my image, this revealed the muddy grass which i thought has the full criteria of a horror setting. Further to that, i liked the way the tree over hangs and blocks the majority of the grey sky and that there is a small area of grey in the centre of the image which draws the eye to it.
I think this will be a very effective location and the way I've shot it fits all of the codes and conventions of horror. Having explored these locations i believe i have found a really good place where filming could take place. but what i have enjoyed most about this location shoot was playing around with lighting for effect. for this reason, moving ahead i will think more carefully about lighting and effects that could enhance the horror atmosphere about my film.
what i've got from this entry is that i need to do more than just find a good location.
